Emma A. Tarantino

Emma A. (Pettipas) Tarantino, 86, died, Saturday, October 2,2021 peacefully at her residence after a long battle with kidney disease. She was surrounded by her loving family and will be deeply missed. Born in Gloucester on October 31,1934 was the daughter of the late Anna E. (Shields) Kendall and William J. Pettipas. She was a lifelong resident of Gloucester. She graduated from the Gloucester High School. Class of 1952. Emma was a loving Mother and raised her children down Fort Sq. To this day always held it close to her heart. Emma moved to Riverdale in 1968 and started working in the Gloucester School Cafeterias. Emma worked in multiple schools. Her first job was at the Plum Cove School. Then O'Maley, Beeman Elementary, Gloucester High School where she was a Cook. Emma loved her job being with the kids and following her Grandsons' Michael and Salvatore down the Gloucester High School where she retired. Emma worked for 38 years in the Gloucester School System. She enjoyed every year with all her coworkers and all the children that entered her kitchen. Emma also worked multiple cleaning jobs. She was a very hard worker and a very strong woman. Emma enjoyed gardening where she spent hours caring for flowers and her yard. She took pride in her yard and home, and it showed. She was a Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots Fan. She spent many games watching with her family. Emma took many trips to Disney World and Bermuda. We are very fortunate to have shared many happy moments with her. Emma opened her home to have many birthday parties for family members and especially her birthday on Halloween. Halloween night was such a big and busy night with many happy birthdays from all the trick or treaters. Emma hosted St. Joseph's Day with her family and friends. The family is so grateful that our family tradition continued. Emma loved her family and it showed. Her house was always filled with laughter and love. Emma enjoyed Sunday of the St. Peter's Fiesta and watching the seine boat races. Especially when her family rowed and when Michael won the championship. She is survived by her three children. A daughter Pauline (Tarantino) Horgan, wife of Michael J. Horgan. A son Salvatore Tarantino and his life partner Diane Brancaleone. A daughter Annette Tarantino, wife of Erin Penders. Two Grandchildren Michael J. Tarantino, husband of Pamela L. Tarantino and Salvatore J. Tarantino. Two Great Grandchildren Malia Emmaline and Benjamin Michael Tarantino.Emma is also survived by two brothers Horace "Skip" Kendall, Jr. and William J. Kendall, Sr. husband of Nina Kendall. Emma has a sister Diane Risdon, wife of Frank Risdon of Millville, New Jersey. Emma will be missed by many nieces and nephews. Two close friends Mary Parsons and Josie Anderson. Also, the luncheon Ladies of Class of 1952. A Graveside service with be at Beechbrook Cemetery in West Gloucester on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 11:30 am. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held prior to the graveside service from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at Campbell's Funeral Home, 61 Middle St., Gloucester, MA. After Emma's Service Family and Friends are invited to the Beauport Hotel for a lite lunch.
