Brian Johnson Obituary

Brian C. Johnson, 47, of Surfside Beach, SC passed away Friday, October 8th, 2021 at Waccamaw Hospital after a long battle with Covid-19 with his Mother, Brother and Sister at his bedside. He was born October 4th, 1974 in Dover, NJ but grew up in Charlotte, NC.

He was a proud graduate of UNCC. Graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering. He was employed as an Electrical Engineer with Metsen- Metallurgical Sensors Inc. based in Ontario Canada. He took great pride in his work and loved this job.

He loved music and often reminisced on his days in marching band at South Mecklenburg High School. Brian loved watching his favorite team the Minnesota Vikings with purple becoming his favorite color. He was a competitive putt-putt player and everyone knew to save the purple ball for him.
Brian's two daughters were his whole world. There was no greater joy to him than making his girls happy and making sure they knew how much he loved them.
He is survived by his Mother, Bonnie K. Johnson, Brother Kevin (Kelli) Johnson of Charlotte, NC. Sister Jennifer (Chris) Gunn of Fort Mill, SC. Daughter Kayla (Wyatt) Thorp of Centerville, OH. Daughter Evie Johnson of Surfside Beach, SC. Aunt, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces Hatlee and Hayden, Nephews Christian, Braxtyn, Will and Cullen.
Brian is preceded in death by his Father Claude (John) Johnson and an infant son Samuel Johnson.

A celebration of life will be held Monday October 25th, 2021 at 1:00p.m. at Palmetto Funeral Home at 2049 Carolina Place Drive, Fort Mill, SC, 29705. For all service attendees the family requests that all Covid precautions are taken including wearing a mask. We would also like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the nurses, doctors and ICU staff at Waccamaw Hospital. They are truly angels as they go above and beyond with the care and support they give to their Covid patients and their families.
