Rose Marie Moody-White Obituary

Rose Marie Moody-White age 81, was born January 18, 1940 in Louisville, Kentucky to the union of the late Theodore and Carrie Moody, she was the youngest of three children. After functioning with utilizing only 10% of her heart, which led to a heart attack, she transitioned from this life to eternal life on Tuesday, October 12, 2021. Rose attended Louisville Central High School. She was a member of Greater Salem Baptist Church, Quinn Chapel A.M.E. Church (Louisville, KY) and later united with Agape Community Church (Lancaster, CA). Rose worked several jobs as a housekeeper and worked with children at the Home of the Innocence. Being around children brought her great joy and happiness as well as being able to help others. She was a professional tap dancer who loved dancing and enjoyed listening to music and reading. With her comical sense of humor, she spread laughter to all that came around. In May 2014, she moved to Lancaster, CA to join her youngest daughter and family. After six years of living on the West Coast, she decided to move back to her hometown of Louisville, KY in September 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Morris Eugene “Pete” Dansby, Sr.; husbands, William D. Leavell, Sr. and Willie White; children, Teresa E. Leavell, William “Billy” Leavell, Jr., Vincent C. Leavell, and granddaughter, Kaiko “Kay” Taylor. Rose leaves to cherish the memory of the life she led to: daughter, Angel V. Leavell-Newsom (Tony); grandchildren, LaShonda Moore, Gerry Moore, Jr. (Marsha), L’Mer Owens, and Monika Akpom (Geoff), great-grandchildren; Jaylen Johnson, Anaya McDavid, Amari McDavid, Gerry Moore III, Marcus Moore, Ojuefor Akpom, Atuona Akpom, and Amechi Akpom; sister, Doris Todd and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, additional family, church family and friends. Visitation: Friday October 15, 2021 at 9:00 AM followed service by at 11:00 AM. Both services will be held at Hathaway & Clark Funeral Home. 2718 Virginia Avenue, Louisville, Kentucky 40211.
