Robert Edward Haggard, Sr., age 76, went to be in glory with the Lord on Sunday, October 10, 2021. He passed away at his home surrounded by family and friends. He was born on May 9, 1945 to Benjamin L. Haggard, Sr. and to the late Parlee White. He is preceded in death by both parents, brother, Benjamin L. Haggard, Jr., and sister, Gloria J. Snead-Young. Robert graduated from Topeka High School in 1964. Soon afterwards he joined the Navy. He served in the Navy for 4 years. He also served also in Vietnam War. After leaving the service he worked for Roy Uhaul Mud Jacking Company, where he later retired from. He also worked as an auto mechanic for many years. It was his hobby and passion. It was something he started doing as a young boy with his father. You could always find him working on cars in his garage with a cigarette hanging off his lips, with a can of Pepsi and sunglasses nearby. His garage and front porch was the hangout spot for many years. We called it “The Men’s Club.” The men had many cherished stories to tell each other and inform the new generation about. He loved spending time with family and friends, enjoyed watching his grandkids and great grandkids growing up, and he loved his dogs. Robert is survived by his daughters: Angela M. Haggard (Topeka, KS), Christina I. Haggard (Tampa, FL), and his son: Robert E. Haggard, Jr (Topeka, KS). His nephew: Michael A. Snead (Overland Park, KS). His grandchildren: Senesse Young, Dylan Haggard and Isabell Haggard. His great-grandchildren: NesMiah Perdue, Sergio Perdue-Young and Zariah Young. He leaves behind a host of great-nieces, cousins and friends. He will be deeply missed.
