William "Buz" Burford, Jr. Obituary

William "Buz" Burford, Jr., 87, a lifelong resident of the Baltimore area, passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at the VA Hospital.

Buz was born September 30, 1934 in Baltimore, MD to the late William, Sr. and Lillian Burford. He served honorably in the US Navy during the Korean War. After his service, he went on to work for Conrail Railroad, which he loved, for 30 plus years until his retirement.  An avid sports fan, Buz enjoyed watching baseball and football. His favorite teams included the Orioles and the Steelers. In his younger years, he played baseball, and continued his love for the sport by attending all of his granddaughter’s softball games. A kind and selfless person, Buz loved helping people. He was described as a busy body who was big hearted, caring, and the BEST story teller. Above all, he loved his family and spending time with them.

In addition to his parents, Buz is preceded in death by his sister, Joan. He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 10 years, though together for 40, Joan Burford, children Amanda Gibson and her husband Mike, Wesley Steinacker and his wife Lisa, Gilbert France and his wife Kelly, Joseph France, Joanie Peusch and her husband Patrick, Tammy Douglas and her husband Chris, 2 sisters Pat and Duggs, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
