<p>LeRoy Lee Lewis, 66, a resident of Silver City New Mexico passed away Tuesday October 12, 2021.</p> <p>Visitation will take place on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at nine-thirty in the morning at Baca&rsquo;s Funeral Chapels in Silver City, New Mexico. A Recitation of the Holy Rosary will follow at ten-thirty in the morning at Baca&rsquo;s Funeral Chapels. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at eleven o&rsquo;clock in the morning at Baca&rsquo;s Funeral Chapels. Services will conclude at Gila Cemetery in Gila, New Mexico where LeRoy will be laid to rest near his loved ones.</p> <p>LeRoy was born to the late Luther and Olivia Lewis on January 14, 1955. He was the oldest of 7 brothers and 2 sisters. LeRoy grew up in Gila NM and later moved to Silver City with the family. He worked at the underground mine until it shut down. He also was the head oiler at James Hamilton for several years. In that time he showed his son, Edmund, how to run different heavy equipment. LeRoy retired in 2020 from Fowler Brothers as a front-end loader operator.</p> <p>LeRoy had a passion for drag racing which led him to build his 1969 Camaro. He would race down at Arroyo Seco Motorplex, east of Deming. He would take his Camaro to car shows where he would win several trophies, the last one being in 2018, where he took 2nd place in the muscle car division. His Camaro was his pride and joy.</p> <p>LeRoy leaves behind six brothers; Billy Ray (Debbie) of Silver City, Jerry (Patty) of Las Cruces, Rick (Anna) of Las Cruces, Alfred (Rosanne) of Silver City, Pat of Silver City, and Ronnie of Silver&nbsp;City; one sister Denise (Ruben) of Arenas Valley; one son, Edmund (LaDawn); three grandchildren, Edmund Ray (Gabby), Adrianna, and Andrew (Briana) all of Silver City and one great-granddaughter Mia Rae; plus several nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Jay and sister Debbie.</p> <p>Pallbearers will be Billy Ray, Jerry, Rick, Alfred, Pat and Ronnie with Honorary Pallbearers: Edmund Ray, Andrew, Adrianna, Louie Aguilar, Danny Arsola&nbsp;and the rest of the nephews and nieces.</p>
