Randy Carstensen Sr. passed away from a courageous 6 1⁄2 year battle of cancer at home surrounded by his family on the morning of October 11, 2021. I was born on September 25, 1962 in Murray, Utah to Esther and Walter Carstensen. I married the love of my life Bonney on May 16, 1987 and we had 3 handsome boys.

I fought every obstacle of my cancer with dignity like a Warrior to be with my family who are my World but it got the best of me. Bonney never left my side with support and loving care to the end. 

I enjoyed hunting with my boys and father-in-law Nelson, loved spending time with my family camping, fishing, bbq, vacations, long drives, 4 seater, my brother Dale’s cabin, showing off my 57 blue chevy at our good friend JC Hackett’s car shows was my greatest joy in life. 

Randy was our whole World and our hearts are broken into a billion pieces. Papa was an inspiration for our family of strength and courage to never give up.

Survived by my wife Bonney, children Aubrey, Randy Jr., Nickolas (Crystal), Shaun (Sarha) and Aeris, 11 grandchildren, brothers Ron (Eunice) and Dale (Mary), many nieces and nephews, mother-in-law Bonnie Headley and brother-in-law Terry. Preceded in death by parents, step dad Bill Massey, father-in-law Nelson Headley, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

My family wants to respect my wishes with a cremation and no services. I was able to have many Celebrations of Life with family and friends this summer while I was still alive and I was truly grateful for that time. I had a great life and wish it could have been longer. 

I want to Thank Dr. Agarwal and his team at Huntsman Cancer Institute, Huntsman at Home Hospice amazing nurse Kenna who is now family, and U of U Hospital for their great care.
