Jerry Nikas "Nicas" Obituary

Jerry Nikas (Nicas) Sr., a man of faith, passed away peacefully October 8, 2021 with family by his side. He was 77. Jerry was born to John and Helen Nicas June 16, 1944 in Kansas City, Missouri. After graduating from Raytown High School in 1963 Jerry proudly dedicated many years in the United States Air Force. In 1968 he married his best friend, Rosemarie (Rosie) and began a lifetime of memories together. Jerry was a socialite and was involved in many organizations. He served as a eucharistic minister at St. Mary’s Church and had a passion for the REACH program which works with children with special needs. Jerry dedicated his time to organizations which include Harvesters, Toys for Tots, and Knights of Columbus where he achieved 4th degree knight status. Jerry was a member of the American Legion Post 21 and started the Patriot Guard Legion Riders to honor fallen soldiers for that chapter. Jerry loved to ride his motorcycle. He was a member of the American Street Rod club and enjoyed taking part in car shows. When Jerry wasn’t actively participating in helping others he could be found with his family or watching his favorite two sports, WWE and NFL. Jerry was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and a fierce friend. He will be missed greatly by all that knew him. He is survived by his beloved wife, Rosemarie; sons, Jerry Nicas Jr. (Dorene) and Nick Nicas (Angela); 7 grandchildren Kyllie, Alexis, Kristen, Holly, Abbie, Michael, Gabrielle, and 3 great grandchildren, Dallas, William, Liam, and numerous cousins nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and identical twin brother, Johnny Nicas Jr. (Paula -surviving) and many close friends he loved as family. A visitation will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Independence, Mo. from 10-11am Thursday October 14th. Mass will begin at 11am with burial to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Raytown, Mo. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Harvesters in Jerry’s memory.
