Frank Joseph Wrobel Obituary

Frank Joseph Wrobel was born October 5, 1938 at Providence Hospital in Detroit, Michigan.

The world was a much different place then. Opportunity for a better life called and the young growing Wrobel family answered – they moved from Detroit to the rural area of Ida/Dundee, Michigan. As a child he and his younger siblings grew up exploring the countryside, lakes and rivers, fishing hunting and working on the family farm. Some years later the Wrobel family partnered with the Banas family to open the Banas & Wrobel Lumber Company in Maybee, Michigan. At a young age he helped run the store, later assisted with developing starter home subdivisions and building custom homes with the crew.

He attended High School in Dundee, Michigan and studied Business Administration Michigan State University in Lansing, Michigan.

Married to Joyce Ann the love of his life for over 59 years - their favorite phrase “together forever” Starting in the early days of courtship they affectionately referred to each other with the same pet name “Clown” he had a knack for assigning nicknames that stick with people.

He served in the US Army as a Police Officer in the 1960’s stationed in Germany he traveled to many other countries with Joyce while both lived overseas.

After the military they returned home and he went to work at General Adjustment Bureau (GAB Robins) for 30 plus years of service. He started as a claims adjuster; through hard work, determination and company training he advanced in his career to various regional upper management positions.

When time permitted hunting, fishing, golf, gardening and cooking, were some of his favorite things to do. He also enjoyed time on the water and became a Member of Black River Boat Club in Port Huron, Michigan from the 1970’s until early 2000’s Cruising and exploring the chain of great lakes in both the USA and Canada with family and friends. Good times that will always be cherished.

After years of hard work it was time to enjoy retirement - he was very happy and proud to become a snowbird. Summer time was enjoyed up north Michigan at the log cabin he and his family built on Beaver Lake. And Punta Gorda, Florida was the winter retreat. Surrounded by friends and family at both places he spent time enjoying bluegrass, polka and country music festivals. Social events lined the calendar, staying busy was his thing. Frequently exploring new restaurants – he was an avid foodie. A member of the Elks and Moose Lodges, Beaver Lake Association and most recently the ROMEO’s aka Retired Old Men Eating Out - a great group of guys that get together for lunch periodically. He was a good listener, gave great advice, humble and honest, stubborn to a point, and could be very stern and sometimes secretive. He did not have a poker face; you could tell by expression what he was thinking. Often laid back and witty he would share his silly sweet grin to let you know he was on board.

Always a regimented guy, he made time to read the paper, stay up to date on current events, relax with a scotch on the rocks and tune in to Hee Haw or the Lawrence Welk Show for wonderful entertainment. As a collector of antiques and other unique treasures, he has an incredible assortment of Life is Good gear and apparel but most important to him - he always made sure his family was doing good things…
