Jimmie F. Henderson, age 87, of Knoxville went home to Heaven on Monday, October 11, 2021. Jimmie is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 46 years, Mary Rose Henderson; dad and mother, John and Gladys May; adopted parents, Walter and Beulah Henderson; brothers, J. R., Rex, Don and Bobby May; sisters, Mary Sue Reaves and Wilma Keith. Jim was a member of West Park Baptist Church, loved to sing with the Golden Heirs senior group and a member of the Berean Bible Study. Jimmie was a United States Navy veteran serving in the Korean War on aircraft carriers, USS Lexington, CVA 16 (nicknamed the Blue Ghost), USS Shangri-La and CVA 38. He was a Yeoman in the Captains office handling officer’s records. He worked for Rohm Haas for 23 years and was a Knox County Deputy Sheriff Reserve for 10 years. He is survived by daughters, Joy Lynn (Terry) Sherwood of McMinnville, Oregon, Theresa (Dwight) Watson; son, Randy (Vickie) Henderson all of Knoxville; grandchildren, Josh Henderson, April Fox, Samuel and Aaron Watson all of Knoxville, Ember Sherwood, Caylee Rojas and Tyler Sherwood all of McMinnville, Oregon; 15 great grandchildren; sister, Iris (Eldon) Moen of Melbourne, Florida. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 16th at West Park Baptist Church with funeral services to follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. James Lynch and Rev. Don Walton officiating. Family and friends will gather at 1 p.m. on Sunday, October 17th at Sherwood Memorial Gardens for graveside services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Berean Bible Study or to Golden Heirs senior group.
