Donald J. Diewald, age 79, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away October 9, 2021. Born September 26, 1942 in Columbus, OH to the late Fred F. and Wilma C. (Glanzman) Diewald.  Donald was also preceded in death by his brother, Fred Diewald Jr., and his daughter, Kendra Diewald.  He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara A. (Hunt) Diewald, his sisters, Carolyn (Jesse) Pope and Anne (Phil) Brunney, and his children Jeannette Eckelberry, Carrie (James) Sendykar, Jeffrey (Janel) Diewald, Sandra (James) Russell, and Craig Diewald.  Donald also leaves behind his love for his grandchildren, Miranda (Randy) Daw, John Eckelberry III, Cassandra (Richard) Watson, Jarret Sendykar, Storm (Ariel) Anderson, Stone Diewald, Riley Russell, Brook Diewald, Dalton Diewald, great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.  After Donald graduated from Bishop Hartley High School in 1961, he joined the Plumbers & Pipefitters Local Union 189 where he later retired after 37 years of service as a plumber.  Donald enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends through activities such as playing card games, golfing, boating, hunting, bowling, fishing, and supporting his favorite sports teams; The Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Red, and Cleveland Browns.  Donald was also a winner on the Ohio Lottery Gameshow, Cash Explosion. A Catholic Mass will be held with family and friends for Donald on Saturday, November 13th, 2021 at 10 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 5133 Walnut Rd, Buckeye Lake, Ohio.  A Celebration of Life in the parish hall will follow the service from 11 am -3 pm.
