Russell G. Wilkins, 60, of Abilene, passed away on October 11, 2021. Russ was born August 18, 1961 in Abilene to Leonard and Greta (Van Buskirk) Wilkins. He grew up in Navarre, Kansas, where he attended the local school and graduated from Chapman High School in 1979. On September 6, 1980, he married Andrea Beth Norton in Enterprise. To this union, two sons were born, Jason and Timothy. Russ and Andrea were married for 28 years before her passing in 2008. He later married Angie Woolslayer on February 11, 2011. She survives of the home. For many years, Russ worked as a 911 dispatcher and had recently retired as the Communications Director for Dickinson County. He loved his work and did it well, but his greatest joy was spending time with his wife, his sons, and his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Angie, of the home; his sons, Jason and wife Jenny; and Tim and wife Kara, all of Abilene; his grandchildren, Nolan, Avery, Tyler, and Keaton; and two brothers, Rick and wife Sharon of Menomonie, WI, and Randy and wife Maria of Omaha, NE. He will also be missed by Angie’s children Lisa, Cindy, Mike, and Richard Jr., as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Russ was preceded in death by his parents and wife Andrea. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 15, 2021, at Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home in Abilene. A private service for the family will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 16, 2021 in the Abilene Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given in Russ’s name to CrimeStoppers of Dickinson County or Home Health of Dickinson County, and may be sent in care of the funeral home: Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 NW Third Street, Abilene, KS 67410.
