Stanley J. Carter Obituary

Mr. Stanley Carter, a resident of Newton, died Monday, October 11, 2021, at his home. He was 75 years old.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, October 22, 2021, from Crossroads Baptist Church in Dothan with Pastor Doug MacCormack officiating. Interment will follow in Newton City Cemetery with Military Honors, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at Crossroads Baptist Church Thursday evening from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.

Mr. Carter was born March 10, 1946 in Brunswick, Georgia to the late Hobert J. Carter and Mary Emma Jordan Carter. He served proudly in the United States Navy and was the owner/operator of Carter’s Concrete since 1997 along with his son, Richard Carter. Mr. Carter was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church where he was a Trustee, Adult Sunday School Teacher and faithful servant of the Lord. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, John Ashford.

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Tharp Carter of Newton; his children, Richard Carter (Lisa) of Culpepper, Virginia, Jennifer Tharpe (Kirby) of Ozark, Kathy Sillings (Damon) of Dothan and Sarah Carter of Newton; eight grandchildren, Reanna Carter, Mason Tharpe, Hayden Sillings, Jordan Tharpe, Garrett Sillings, Sydney Carter, Whitt Tharpe and Madelyn Carter; his siblings, Wilma Jean Shaw, Tina Dietrich, Maxine Rhodes, Nelson Carter, Debbie Suwa and Kay Jordan.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crossroads Baptist church, Bus Ministry or Youth Ministry, 2574 Westgate Parkway, Dothan, Alabama 36303.
