Alan Albert Clare Obituary

It is with sadness, but thankfulness for an adventurous life well lived, that we share the passing of Alan Clare. Alan died peacefully in Regina at the age of 90. He was predeceased by his parents Albert and Elizabeth and his spouse Judith Fern Clare. He is survived by Tonia (Gerry) Hauck, Mirela (Mason) and Meric of Regina; and Steve (Tracey) Laschuk, Preston and Lauren of Regina. He also leaves to mourn his brother Maurice (Betty) and their sons Martin and Graham, his sister Marion (Terry) Spencer and their two daughters Sally and Joanne, as well as many nieces and nephews, all of England. Born in London, England, Alan was active in sports, especially rugby and golf. After graduating from university, he began an amazing career as a geologist working for different companies. His work in geology took him around the world from various cities in Canada (Regina, Dawson Creek, Calgary) to West Africa (Sierra Leone), Libya (Tripoli), Iran (Tehran), and Saudi Arabia (Dhahran). Besides English, Alan spoke French and Persian (i.e., Farsi) to the surprise of many. Alan settled into retirement in Calgary with Fern and, upon her passing, moved back to Regina. His final years were spent at the Riverbend Crossing Memory Care Community home where he received both personal and palliative care. We would like to thank all the staff at Riverbend for their extraordinary care and compassion for Alan during his time there. In lieu of a memorial service, Alan’s ashes will be laid to rest in Calgary.
