Elaine Crunden Kelemencky
<p>Elaine Crunden Kelemencky passed away October 11, 2021. Elaine was born to Fred and Ruth Crunden on February 25,1931, in Windham, Connecticut. She was the oldest of four children.</p> <p>She graduated from Roger Ludlowe High School and the Junior College of the Connecticut University of Bridgeport. She was a member of the Beta Gamma Sorority. She worked at the Bridgeport branch of the Aluminum Company of America. She also worked as a secretary for various offices. In the late 70’s to the early 80’s she worked part time at Lutheran Home and also at the Southbury Training School.</p> <p>Elaine met Monroe on a blind date. At first, she was unsure of how she felt about him. Quickly his sense of humor and kindness won her over. They married on July 11, 1953. She traveled with Monroe to Travis Air Force Base in California. She enjoyed traveling to many states.</p> <p>Elaine spent most of her life in Woodbury Connecticut. She was a homemaker, taking care of six wild children. She was known for her coleslaw secret family recipe, as well as her Hungarian stuffed cabbage which was her mother-in-law’s recipe. She and Monroe invented “faces” which were deli meats and cheese, pickles, lettuce put on a plate as a lunch meal. This has been passed down to the great grandchildren. She loved hosting family picnics and holiday gatherings.</p> <p>She loved Monroe, her children and family and was very supportive to all. She loved to read, especially the Bible. Nothing could get in her way and disrupt her from watching the UCONN Women’s basketball team. Elaine loved to dance, she and Monroe took dancing lessons. Her favorite was the cha cha cha.</p> <p>She is pre-deceased by her parents Ruth and Fred Crunden, her sister Valerie and brother Raymond and her first grandson Aaron James Kelemencky.</p> <p>She is survived by her six children; Lynn Patrick, Lori Seeley, Lisa Meyer Schirmer (Nick) Peter Kelemencky, Raymond Kelemencky (Tina), David Kelemencky, and her sister Vera Hadad. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.</p> <p>A Private Graveside service will be held on November 6th at 11:30 AM at New North Cemetery. A celebration of life for family and friends will be held at AOH Hall, 91 Golden Hill St. Waterbury, CT from 1-5 PM.</p>Obituary
