Marie R. (nee Petrovic) Thielman, age 97, passed away peacefully Monday, Oct. 11, 2021, at The Preserve of Mentor Ridge in Mentor.

Born June 19, 1924, in Cleveland, she had been a resident of Lake County most of her 97 years, growing up in Willoughby and residing in Wickliffe for more than 60 years.

Marie was a proud 1942 graduate of Willoughby Union High and Ohio University Class of 1947. She loved to design the perfect landscaped yard, decorate and organize her home, travel with family and friends, sew, shop, and play golf.

Marie was the much-loved mother of Thomas W. (Carol) Thielman of Wickliffe; mother-in-law of Steven Schmid; cherished grandmother of Anneliese Schmid, William Schmid, Andrew Thielman and Claire Thielman; and aunt of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Clayton C. Thielman in 2014; daughter, Terese (Thielman) Schmid in 1995; parents, Thomas and Mary (nee Jernejcic) Petrovic; and beloved brother, William Petrovic.

Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, at The Abbey of Willoughby, 38011 Euclid Ave. (located on the grounds of McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home), in Willoughby, with a service to follow at 1 p.m. Burial will be at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.

In lieu of flowers, those who desire may make a memorial donation to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, Lake County Humane Society, or a charity of your choice.
