<p>Mr. Olin D. Mercer, 86, of Garfield passed away Monday, October 11, 2021, at his residence following an extended illness.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Mr. Mercer was born October 8, 1935, in Wausau, FL to the late Brown Mercer and Vera Owens Mercer. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, T. D. Mercer, Howard Mercer. Mr. Mercer worked with Florida Forest Service for several years. He then began working in land management with Rayonier from 1967 until his retirement in 1995. Mr. Mercer loved quail hunting and raising and training bird dogs. He also followed his boys around to all their sports games, often bragging that he never missed a game. He was a member of Twin City First Baptist Church.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Nina Jones Mercer of Garfield; sons, Marty (Julie) Mercer, Greg Mercer, both of Twin City, Ken (Barbara) Mercer of Swainsboro; grandchildren, Brandy Snyder, Randi Mills, Ashley (Lynnsey) Denney, Zack Denney, Madison Mercer (James), Hagan Mercer; great-grandchildren, Christian Brendel, Jake Mills, Hunter Mills, Ellee Denney, Evan Denney, Addison Denney, Channum Denney, Harper Denney, Cohen Ward.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, October 14, 2021, at Twin City First Baptist Church with Reverend Jim Harrell officiating.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Interment will follow in the Hebron Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Thursday, October 14, 2021, at Twin City First Baptist Church.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Pallbearers are Ashley Denney, Zack Denney, Hagan Mercer, Bill Thompson, Hunter Mills, and Jake Mills.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Honorary Pallbearers are the past and present employees of ITT Rayonier.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice or to Twin City First Baptist Church Pure Water/Pure Love Project, P.O. Mr. Olin D. Mercer, 86, of Garfield passed away Monday, October 11, 2021, at his residence following an extended illness.

 

Mr. Mercer was born October 8, 1935, in Wausau, FL to the late Brown Mercer and Vera Owens Mercer. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, T. D. Mercer, Howard Mercer. Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, October 14, 2021, at Twin City First Baptist Church with Reverend Jim Harrell officiating.
