Glen R. Medlock Obituary

Mr. Glen Roger Medlock of Columbia, SC, departed this life October 10th. He was the fourth child of six, born to the late Jasper and Lillie Medlock. He was also known as “Med” by those who knew him well and “the boys in blue”.

Mr. Medlock graduated from Eau Claire High School in May 1979. He spent 10 years in the Unites States Army. He was assigned to the 11CIO Fire Infantry. He is a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church College Place to which he joined at an early age.

Upon returning home from the military, he went on to work for the Columbia, SC Fire Department. He was hired on November 13, 1990. As he moved up the ladder, he served as the Relief Fire Equipment Operator until July 04, 1994, Fire Engineer through June 19, 1997. He became a Captain on December 15, 2008 and retired on November 14, 2012.  He returned to work as a Tanker Driver until June 22, 2015, a Captain at Station #17 and a Captain at McCrady Training Military Base. During his time of employment, he was assigned to stations #12 and #34 and his beloved Station #13 in Eau Claire. In all, he served a total of 28 years. After retirement, he went on to work at his last job, Green Way shuttles, where he was presently employed for the past 3 years.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Jasper and Lillie Medlock and his younger brother, Jeffrey Medlock. Those left to cherish his precious memories are his Fiancé Ms. Marquette Johnson and Jason Johnson (stepson), two stepdaughters Tierra and Pebbles Boyd. His brother Anthony Medlock of Columbia, SC. Three sisters, Mrs. Deborah (Samuel) Ervin, Mrs. Angela (George) Stewart, both of Columbia, SC and Mrs. Sheridan (Anthony) Allicock of Virginia. Six nephews: Albert (Tank) Medlock, Matt and Bryon Stewart, Paul Medlock of Indiana, Chase Allicock of Virgina. One niece Lily Allicock of Virginia, Asia Medlock his sweet dog, and a host of cousins, other loving relatives and friends. All of whom will miss seeing his devotion to God and his doting loving nature.
