Leona R. Spiess Limestone, NY Leona R. Spiess, of Route 219, passed away Wednesday (September 29, 2021) in Olean. Born September 5, 1958 in Salamanca, she was the daughter of Lyle and Cora Frank Bennett. She was married to James Roger Spiess who predeceased her March 15, 2021. Leona was a 1977 graduate of Limestone Central School and worked several years for the Salamanca School District. She also worked for over 12 years as a cashier for Papa’s Place in Limestone. She loved knitting, sewing, and the outdoors, especially fishing and campfires. She most enjoyed spending time with her “grandbabies” whom she loved very much. She is survived by a son Justin (Mia Grimes) Spiess of Limestone; 2 daughters Cora Bennett and Jennifer Bennett, both of Olean; 2 grandchildren Urie Spiess and Deikon McCarthy; 1 sister Rosie Peterson of Shinglehouse, PA and several other relatives and friends. The family will honor Leona’s memory by providing her with a simple and quiet burial, and, like her husband James, be remembered for her kind devotion to her family and for her love for her friends.
