George R. St. Martin, Sr. Obituary


George R. St. Martin, Sr., 94, of Warwick passed away Thursday, October 7, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Home in East Greenwich. He was the loving husband of the late Marion T. (Reavey) St. Martin. They were married in 1950 and shared over 60 years together until her passing in 2016.


Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Felix and Rose (LeBlanc) St. Martin. He was raised in Providence and resided in Warwick for many years.


Mr. St. Martin was employed in the construction industry as a heavy equipment operator. He worked primarily for Oaklawn Nursery for many years and retired from the Cardi Construction Corporation. He was a longtime member of the Engineers Union and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.


True to his Ocean State roots George enjoyed spend time aboard his boat and venturing out on Narragansett Bay. Fishing and quohogging were some of his favorite pastimes.
George will be remembered as a devoted husband and father. His favorite role in life was as a grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a friendly and helpful gentleman and his love for his family is his lasting legacy.


George is survived by two daughters Nancy Blanchette and her husband Leo of Warwick and Denise Schrutt and her husband Barry of Bristol. He was the father of the late George R. St. Marin, Jr., his son who passed away in Florida on September 20, 2021. He was the proud grandfather of Michelle Rainone, Kristen Nelson, Matthew Blanchette and Erin and Jason Schrutt and great-grandfather of Brendan and Madeleine Rainone. George was the brother of the late Charles, Ovide, Russell, and Raymond St. Martin, Lorraine Aucion, Rita Hunt, Millly Williams, Gertrude Brown and Lillian Hunt. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families.


George’s funeral service will be Friday October 15, 2021 at 11:00 am in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Rd. Warwick. Burial will be private. Visiting hours are Friday morning from 9:00-11:00 am prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Rhode Island 245 Waterman St. Suite 306 Providence, RI. 02906 or www.alz.org.
