Richard L. Bade Villa Park, Illinois Obituary

Richard L. Bade

Richard L. Bade

- 05/17/2020

Richard L. Bade, aged 78, of Villa Park passed peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of Joanne Bade (nee Sauer), son of Edward C. Bade and Vera Mann Bade, and loving brother of John Bade (Bobbi), and the late David Bade (Sharon), father of 6; Daniel (Kristi), Scott (Lori Wingate), Jennifer (Tim Keating), Pamela (Tony Truby), Andrew (Tanya), and Matthew, and grandfather of 7; Amber, Olivia, Declan, Julia, Lex, August, and Stuart, uncle of many nieces and nephews, life-long friend of many, member of the Villa Park Fire Department family, and St. Alexander’s Knights of Columbus.

Dick was born and raised in Elmhurst, attending Immaculate Conception (IC) grade school and high school.

He was a very good athlete, attending Loyola University on a partial scholarship for Track and Field. Interestingly, he ran “rabbit” ( if you are a runner, you’ll know what that means) many times for his fellow track member and friend Tom O’Hara, who set the world record for the indoor mile while they were at Loyola.

After graduating from Loyola University with a degree in business, Dick worked first for Republic Steel Corporation and then a few years later joined Dearborn Midwest Corporation for many years, eventually becoming its owner until his retirement in 2015. He took pride in the quality of material handling products he sold and the service he offered his clients-many of whom became friends.

In addition to fishing and NASCAR he enjoyed building custom fishing rods, woodworking, and a love of nature - hiking, birding, gardening, biking, tennis, cross country skiing…

Finally, his pillars were his faith, love of family, friends and community! He was happiest being with his loved ones and friends out in nature.

Because of COVID-19 restrictions, services will be private. I knew Dick mainly in high school when he was always a leader and fair minded person. I won't hold against him that I tried to date Joanne. As I look back, I would truly have enjoyed knowing more about them both. ~ Leo Brueggeman, Charleston, South Carolina
