Pat Anthony Ebert of Elkhart Lake, WI, formerly of Gresham, WI, passed away at home on Friday, October 1, 2021, with his three daughters and wife by his side. His brave battle with cancer over, he trusted his Lord to welcome him to his heavenly home. Pat grew up in Gresham, WI, born to Bonita (Stefl) and Gervase Ebert on December 31, 1941. During his school years he gained a great deal of knowledge about cars and mechanics helping out in the family-owned Ebert Sales and Service Garage. He also worked in his grandfather C.J. Ebert’s meat processing and locker plant. He graduated from Gresham High School as Valedictorian of his 1960 class. During the years 1961-1965 he served his country in the United States Air Force, stationed in Colorado Springs and Duluth, trained in electronics and working on the radar systems of fighter jets. In the 1970’s he took advantage of the educational opportunities offered to veterans by earning a degree in Electronics from DeVry Institute of Technology. This involved a final project of building test equipment and full-sized color TV, which served the family for many years. Upon his honorable discharge he began his civilian work career in 1965 as a computer repair technician with Burroughs Corp., which later became Unisys. This challenging career involved working on large main-frame computer systems in banks, hospitals and universities. On April 20, 1968, he was joined in marriage to Charlene Hoffman, also of Gresham. For the next 25 years, various promotions and transfers led them to Janesville and Madison, WI, St. Paul, MN and St. Louis, MO, where he was Branch Manager until 1991. While residing in Lake St. Louis, MO, Pat and his family were very involved as charter members of Living Lord Lutheran Church, where he was a choir member, Bible study leader, and church council member and president. From 1991 until 1996 pat worked as a regional sales representative for Tilton Equipment Company, which specialized in small engine products. In 1996 the family moved to Sheboygan and then Elkhart Lake, WI, where he was the Inside Sales Manager and all-around consultant for Plyco Corporation, retiring in the spring of 2012. Pat’s main hobbies were listening to music on his multi-component stereo system, going to car shows and tinkering with cars. He and his family enjoyed many vacations touring the U.S. by car, and sometimes camping. He was an avid reader, enjoyed golfing, bowling, working on home improvement projects, and visiting and entertaining family and friends, his “Name that Tune” and “Neighborhood Feud” summer parties were fun to create and host. Being a multi-talented, “Jack-of-all-trades” type of guy, his advice and counsel will be greatly missed by his family. We will also miss his loving and caring nature and his sense of humor, as well as his fine baritone voice at Christmas caroling time. Pat is survived by his wife Charlene Ebert of Elkhart Lake; his daughters Sarah (Brad) Henschel, Forest City, MO, Jennifer (Randy) Higginbotham, Defiance, MO, and Elaine (Darren) Leonard, Lake St. Louis, MO; his grandsons Capt. Alex Higginbotham, Clarksville, TN, Dustin Higginbotham, Des Moines, IA and Chase Higginbotham, Defiance, MO; and granddaughters Anna, Claire and Bridget Leonard, Lake St. Louis, MO. He is also survived by brothers Daniel Ebert, Tyrus (Janice) Ebert and Allan (Sharon) Ebert, all of Gresham, and Denton Ebert, Franklin/Shawano; sisters Etola (Garry) Matz, Elkhart Lake/Shawano, Opal Carroll, Gresham, and Darla (Mike) Brunner, Shawano; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends in Wisconsin and beyond. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother-in-law Arthur Carroll, and sisters-in-law Linda Ebert and Eyvonne Ebert. A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will take place in Gresham in the spring of 2022. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital or Sharon S.
