<p>Stephen "Steve" Patrick Werner, 55, of Lansing passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at Providence Medical Center, Kansas City, KS.</p><p>Steve was boisterous, quick-witted and engaging. You always knew when Steve entered a room. He loved to dance and sing and drive you nuts with all types of trivia and movie quotes. Music was an essential part of his life. If there was live music, he was there and was typically up front dancing. He saw the Grateful Dead at least 26 times. Sports was another passion in his life. He was a big fan of the Jayhawks, St. Louis Cardinals, Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Blues. Steve loved his motorcycle, and most of all he loved his motorcycle family. They were his people. </p><p>Steve was born on January 9, 1966 in St. Louis, MO to James J. and Maureen (Whelan) Werner. He was raised in Wester Groves, Missouri where he attended Holy Redeemer Catholic School and Christian Brothers College High School, where he graduated in 1984. In 1990, he graduated from the University of Kansas, where he was a Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity member. He met Jennifer Bruner at KU. They moved several times after college and married in 1997. They had two children. They subsequently divorced.</p><p>Steve met his Life Partner, Kelly Anderson, in 2017. Together they created a blended family and found pride in the many achievements of their children.</p><p>Steve worked in beer and propane sales and distribution, most recently with the Leavenworth County Cooperative Association.</p><p>Steve is survived by his Life Partner Kelly Anderson, children and loves of his life Patrick and Caroline Werner, extra children Lucy and Sam McCleary and his mother Maureen Werner. He is also survived by his brother Jay (Susan) Werner, sister Ellen (Brian) Nies. He is also survived by his extra siblings Diannia Affalter, Gayle Anderson, Cindy Anderson, Susan Anderson, Tommy (Pam) Anderson, Patti Anderson and numerous nephews and nieces. </p><p>Steve was a loving father, Life Partner, husband, son, brother, uncle and friend. He will be greatly missed.</p><p>A gathering of family and friends will be on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at the Belden Larkin Funeral Home at 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will follow at the VFW, 519 Cherokee, Leavenworth, KS at 5:00 to 9:00 pm. A burial in Lansing and Catholic Service in St. Louis will be at a later date. </p><p>Donations in his name may be directed to the Leavenworth County Humane Society or Donor’s Choice.</p><p>Arrangements have been entrusted to Belden Larkin Funeral Home.</p>
