Rose M. Lewis Obituary

Rose M. Lewis, age 87, a Manitowoc resident, went to be with the Lord on Sunday morning, October 10, 2021 at Magnolia Meadows Assisted Living, Manitowoc, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born April 22, 1934 in Ambler, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Ralph and Mary (Groetsch) Varallo. Rose attended Notre Dame Catholic Girls High School, Wyncote, Pennsylvania, graduating with the class of 1952. She was employed with NBC Radio and the Chamber of Commerce in Philadelphia, then with the Schuette Brothers Store of Manitowoc, and retired from Acuity Insurance. Rose was a current member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Parish, was a member of the Mixed Choir/Celebrators, the Holy Family Prayer Group, and taught religious education classes for many years. She also enjoyed her Wednesday morning prayer group with her friends, including lifelong friends Donna Zirk and the late Maxine Kramer. In her younger years, Rose loved ballroom dancing and dance roller skating. She also enjoyed playing the guitar, singing, watching baseball and cheering on the Packers. Above all, she loved her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren.

Rose is survived by her five children: Rose Marie Lewis, Menasha, Linda Lewis, Illinois, Christian (Jodi) Lewis Jr., Two Rivers, Michele Lewis, Schaumburg, Illinois, and Tina (Tom) Satran, Manitowoc; five grandchildren: Jacob Lawyer (Fiancée Lydia), Hannah Lewis, Nick Neilson, Claire Neilson, and Khatia Lewis; three siblings: Ralph (Gerry) Varallo, Joseph (Alice) Varallo, and Margaret (Frank) Brass, all of Pennsylvania; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; the father of her children: Chris Lewis Sr.; her siblings: Concetta, Theresa, Catherine, Jane, twin sister Rita, Bernadette, and Toby; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, October 18, 2021 at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, 1121 North 14th Street, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Ben Johnson. Rose will be laid to rest at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Manitowoc, at a later date.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 4:00 p.m. until 5:15 p.m. on Monday, October 18, 2021 at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, Manitowoc.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial is planned in Rose’s honor.
