Carolyn Sanchez Champagne passed away at her home on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at the age of 81. She was born in New Orleans, LA and resided the past ten years in Metairie, LA. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 35 years, Walter “Bayou” Champagne and her parents, Rena and Cilton Mayeaux and Nicholas and Daisey Sanchez.
She was the mother of Donald Mautemps (Donna), David Mautemps and Dawn Mautemps. She was the loving grandmother to Dana, D.J. (Amanda) Mautemps, Joey Mautemps, Quinn (Meredith) Mautemps, Garrett Mautemps, Mac Farrell, Jr., Andrew Farrell and Corin Farrell and the great grandmother of seven. She was the stepmother of Terry Sue Notchick (Frank), Eugene Champagne and the late Jerry Champagne and JoAnn Champagne Worster. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Edward “Eddie” Worster and a step granddaughter, Dani Worster.
Carolyn retired from the Jefferson Parish School system in 2005 where she was a teacher’s assistant. She loved working with children. She was a parishioner of St. Ann Church and Shrine who prayed the rosary and listened to Mass daily.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Ann Church and Shrine, corner of Transcontinental Dr. and Loveland, in Metairie, LA on Thursday, October 14, 2021. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. Masks are required. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
