WAREHAM-John F. O'Donnell, 79, of Wareham, died unexpectedly Saturday, October 9, 2021 at St. Luke's Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Sharon L. (Quesnel) O'Donnell with whom he shared 31 years of marriage and son of the late Francis and Anita (Robidoux) O'Donnell. Born in Holyoke, he resided in Oregon for a brief period of time before relocating to Wareham. Mr. O'Donnell was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran and was employed as a licensed practical nurse until his retirement. He traveled throughout the United States with his wife and enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, telling jokes, computers and shooting pool as a member of a league and the company of his dog, Champ. His greatest joy was his family and he especially enjoyed entertaining his grandchildren with his storytelling. His family includes his wife; 3 daughters, the late Kimberly O'Donnell, Katy O'Donnell of New Bedford and Sara O'Donnell and her fiancé, Sean Hogan of Wareham; a step-son, Greg Lapointe and his wife, Janelle of Rochester; 19 grandchildren, Xavian, Elijah, Zayden, Dah-sean, Joziah, Adri-ona, Kay-sin, Alayna, Samantha, Joey, Isabella, Noah, Evan, Ava, Emma, Ethan, Cherie, Richie and Brianna; 3 great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Audree and Kallie; niece and nephews, Amy, Ryan and Matt and lifelong friends, Irene & Jack Fagan. He was the brother of the late Robert O'Donnell, step-father of the late Veronica Lapointe and best friend of the late Fred Cardaropoli, Jr. Memorial visitation is Wednesday, October 27, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. with a service to be conducted at 7:30 P.M. followed by military honors. Inurnment in Massachusetts National Cemetery is private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516.
