Hagerstown, MD – Steven Wayne “Bear” Embly, 65, of Hagerstown, MD passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at his home.

 

He was born on November 19, 1955 in Hagerstown, MD to Charles W. Sr. and Helen L. Rider Embly of Hagerstown, MD.

 

He was a 1973 graduate of Williamsport High School in Williamsport, MD.

 

Steven was employed by Thomas Bennett Hunter in Hagerstown, MD until retiring in 2018.  He previously worked at Craig Paving, Brown Trucking, Lauren Stevens Excavating, and Danzer Metal Works.

 

He attended Virginia Avenue Church of God in Hagerstown, MD.

 

He was a member of the 700 Club.

 

Steven enjoyed riding motorcycles, car shows, trains, camping and listening to RUSH.  He was also a big fan of Westerns, especially John Wayne.

 

Besides his parents he is survived by his wife Brenda L. (Shoop) Embly whom he married on May 14, 1983; daughter Audra L. Embly and her partner Chris Dickinson of Hagerstown, MD; daughter Holly M. Embly of Hagerstown, MD; sister Joan L. O’Brien (Neikirk-Embly) and her husband Kevin of Williamsport, MD; brother Charles W. Embly and his wife Barbara of Clear Spring, MD; granddog Athena; grandkitties Tempy, Kei, Smokey, Cali, and Timmy; aunts and uncles; 1 niece; 4 nephews.

 

He was predeceased by his best friend Donnie Mason and his little buddy Fred.

 

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 pm.  The funeral home will be open after 12:00 (noon) on Wednesday for the convenience of family and friends.

 

Funeral services will be held at Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 11:00 am.  Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park Williamsport, MD.
