Travis Larry Dayley Obituary

Our son husband, father, brother, and friend, Travis “Big Daddy” Larry Dayley, passed away October 8, 2021, at the age of 50, surrounded by his loving family as a result of COVID. Despite his health struggles, Trav was encouraging and positive to those around him up to his very last words.

Travis was born in Burley, Idaho to Linda and the late Larry Dayley on March 26, 1971. He was the oldest of two boys and loved teaching his little brother “lessons,” always showing him who was boss. During his childhood, Travis and his family always enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing and hunting. This created a foundation of how he lived his life: loving nature and spending as much time as possible in it. As a teen, he attended school at Minico High School and Burley High School.

On April 27, 1996 he married the love of his life, Andrea (Golay), and they settled into a life together in Twin Falls, Idaho. In Twin, their careers flourished, their bond deepened, and their family grew. No other role did Trav take more seriously than being a father, as they welcomed Alexandra McKenzie and Burkely Cecil into their family. He was most recently working as an automotive and industrial paint sales manager.

Trav was a man of his word, solid in his commitment to his family, friends and country. He was unwavering in his loyalties and committed to being the best at whatever he did. “Competitive” and “perfectionist” are extreme understatements of his nature and execution of life. On the golf course, the shooting range, the fishing hole, or the grill pit, Travis’s perfection, his attention to meticulous details, and thoroughness would always prevail.

Travis lived and loved hard. He lived his life with intensity and passion. The simplest pleasures in life brought the greatest joy to Travis: Deep conversations, funny jokes, rehashing (and maybe embellishing) stories, a solid fishing trip, a sub par golf game, traveling to amazing destinations with friends, or anyone’s choice of card/board games were his enjoyable pastimes. He shared his love of life not only with his family, but with his friends and the young teens he coached and mentored on the Twin Falls Hot Shots trap shooting team.

Trav had an uncanny ability to find happiness in his daily activities and make everyone around feel lighter just by being in his presence. Travis’s personality was delightful to be around and his infectious laugh was contagious to everyone he met. His smile could be seen for miles! No matter if you were a stranger on the street or a lifelong friend, Travis’s ability to connect with others could not be topped.

Travis is survived by his wife, Andrea Dayley; a daughter, Alexandra (Connor) Hawkins, grandson Everett George; a son, Burkely Dayley; a brother, Dustin (Traquel) Dayley; his mother, Linda Dayley, mother in law, Sandee Golay; and many cousins, a niece, and two nephews and fabulous friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Larry Dayley and his father-in-law, Rex Golay.

In lieu of flowers, an account has been created at First Federal Savings Bank under Travis Dayley Memorial Fund.
