Rodney Erickson, 69 of Clearbrook, MN died Sunday, October 10, 2021 at Touch of Home Assisted Living in Bemidji. There will be a remembrance service for family and friends at a later date. Rodney was born December 15, 1951 in Bagley, MN. He served in the Army for 2 years, he was drafted from 1972-1974. He trained at Fort Polk, Louisiana. He served his enlistment at Ft. Ripley, Kansas. He went to Germany two times for training exercises. He drove a Recon personnel carrier after the service. After the service he worked as a millwright on the Iron Range, then in Wyoming and Colorado. He helped build the Potlatch OSB plant in 1980. In 1982 he had a major heart attack and had a couple more in later years. He also had a heart bypass and stents put in after each event. He continued having medical problems until his death. Rodney was a very true friend of everyone. He helped a lot of people out. He drove them to Bemidji from Clearbrook for doctor appointments and groceries. He would give anyone the shirt off his back. Rodney read thousands of western books over the years, multiple times. He loved playing smear at the local bars. Rodney loved deer hunting; he shot a lot of deer from his stand over the years. Rodney loved taking trips to Oregon to see his sister Caroline and his brother-in-law Jack Corning. He would also visit his two half sisters, Diane and Sharon who lived out west also. He is survived by his 7 surviving siblings, Caroline (Jack Corning) of Oregon, Ronald Erickson of Bemidji, Donna (Pat Bietka) of Bemidji, Dale Erickson of Fairbanks, and Jeff Erickson (Wendy) of Fergus Falls. He was preceded in death by his sister Barbara (Hanson), brother Mike Erickson (Terri Halverson), and sister Judy Erickson (Delis Benais). Condolences may be left at ceasefuneralhome.com.
