Roy G. Keithley

Roy G. Keithley, 82, of Independence, Missouri, passed away Friday, October 8, 2021. Visitation will be held 6-8pm Thursday, October 14, 2021. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, October 15, 2021; both to take place at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, Missouri 64055. Interment to follow service at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens in Independence, Missouri. Roy was born in Kansas City, Missouri to Roy Joseph and Lucy (Wise) Keithley. He was one of five children. He was a graduate of the class of 1957 from Northeast High School, then went on to complete a four-year trade school. He was a proud member of Sheet Metal Worker Union #2 for 64 years. On June 11, 1960, Roy married the love of his life and his best friend, Patricia “Pat” Thomsen. To this union 2 children were born, Sherrie (Keithley) Bell and Tony Keithley and their lives were complete. He was a member of Coventry Estates Baptist Church in Independence. Roy enjoyed spending time at the lake, where he was able to enjoy the beautiful outdoors and make special memories with his family and friends. Roy was a true outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing and was able to make special fishing trips to Canada with friends. He also enjoyed catching a game on tv or watching and re-watching his favorite westerns. He loved listening to old country and gospel and in the later years could be heard saying, “Google, play this song.” Roy was an excellent son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather; he will be forever missed by his family and friends. Roy is survived by his children, Sherrie (Martin) Bell, Tony (Beth) Keithley; grandchildren, Stefanie (Victor) Speers, Amanda (Toby) Weir, Brian Keithley and Emily (Matt) Reynolds; 9 great grandchildren; sister, Juantia Leone; and his beloved Australian Shepherd side kick, Reba; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Lucy Keithley; beautiful wife of 58 years, Patricia Keithley; and siblings, Ray, Tom and Mary Jane.
