Obituary

Bousfield, John Nelson

Passed on peacefully into the arms of Jesus, on October 7, 2021 at the age of 92 after a courageous battle with cancer and dementia. He was surrounded by family in his last few days of life at Hospice Wellington.

John left a wonderful legacy of faith and love to his dear family that will continue on for generations. He is the beloved husband and best friend to Eileen (Allen) with whom he shared 68 years of marriage.

Devoted father of Diane (Bruce) Hill, Debra (Jim) Lowe, Kevin (Margaret), Jeff (Susan) and Scott (Jen).

Proud Papa of Amy (Greg) Dow, Andrew (predeceased 2002), Sarah (Matt) Klein Geltink, Steve (Angela) Lowe, Matthew (Micale), Nathan (Lindsey) and Logan Hill, Erin (Joe) Dionne, Lindsay and Jennifer Nix, Micaela and Grace Bousfield, Adam and Emily Bousfield.

Delighted Great Papa of Austin and Lila Dow, Anderson and Emmalina Klein Geltink, Noah, John and Malakai Lowe, Brooklyn Dionne, Jerzy, Charlotte and Riley Hill.

John was predeceased by his younger brother, William, in 1936. He will be greatly missed by his brothers, Tom and Larry (Margret), many nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as neighbours and friends.

John was born on Sept. 16, 1929, to Nelson and Marjorie, and raised in Campbellville. He was employed as a millwright at P.L.Robertson in Milton for 47 years. In his youth he enjoyed hunting and fishing. John had a passion for music and he loved to sing, whistle and dance endlessly with the love of his life, Eileen. He was pretty competitive at cards (especially euchre), and as well would play lots of board games over the years with his large family, young and old.

Through the years John’s family made many memorable camping trips. John did all the driving, travelling throughout Canada and the United States. As the family grew so did the accommodations; from tent, to tent trailer, to hard top trailer and then to finally a 21 foot Hi-Lo trailer.

After retiring John and Eileen continued their travels; by car, bus, plane and cruise ship, often with friends.

John’s hobbies were woodworking, refinishing and restoring furniture, and repairing pretty much anything. He was the family’s ‘Go To’ person when something broke down or needed fixing. He was the neighbourhood Handyman and Helper especially with snowplowing and grass cutting when needed. During his lifetime, John served in various ways at the church communities that he was a part of, offering to help whatever the need.

John was an avid fan of the Blue Jays and was able to view some of their final games this season. He also took interest in watching the Leafs, and the Raptors in recent years.

We are especially thankful to Hospice Wellington for their compassionate and dignified care and for providing our family an oasis for John’s end of life journey.
