Gerardo M. "Jerry" del Campo Obituary

YORK – Gerardo M. “Jerry” del Campo, 79, passed away Saturday, October 9, 2021 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Deborah L. (Beckley) del Campo to whom he was married for 31 years. A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York. A visitation will be held from 1-2:00 PM Thursday at the Funeral Chapel. Jerry's Tribute Service will be webcast on his obituary page at www.HeffnerCare.com Born October 3, 1942 in Santiago, Chile; a son of the late Hilda O. Martinez Zuniga and the late Jorge H. del Campo Perez; he graduated high school in Chile and then served 10 years in the Chilean Air Force. Mr. del Campo immigrated to the US in the late 1960’s. Upon settling in the York area, he attended Penn State University and also graduated from Bradley Academy with a degree Visual Arts. Jerry used his artistic skills in graphic design and technical illustration during his 25-year career at Caterpillar, Inc. and an additional seven years with ILS in York. Following his retirement, Mr. del Campo worked for F&S Transportation. He was a member of York Art Assoc. where he taught art lessons and had attended Church of the Open Door. Jerry enjoyed attending art shows to display his portraits and draw caricatures. In addition to his wife, Mr. del Campo is survived by five daughters, Holly Cardasso and companion Joe Heaney, Heather and husband Kevin Snyder, Jamie del Campo and companion Jason Houseman, Heather Harlacker and companion Shaun Desenberg, and Erin and husband Christopher Essock; 11 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Jorge E. del Campo and Jaime A. del Campo; and two sisters, Luz Maria del Campo and Ana del Campo. He was preceded in death by a brother, H. Francisco del Campo; and his American mother, Estella “Mommy” Gebhart.
