Ervin “Rusty” Kaufman, 90, a long time Tomahawk area resident passed away Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Our House Senior Living in Wausau. Rusty was an only child born August 2, 1931 in Ripon, Wisconsin to Walter and Laura Schrader. He was first married to Mary Lou, who passed away and later he married Nela “Charlie” Dahl who passed away in 1995. He was a rural letter carrier for the United States Post Office for many years. In his younger years he was a member of Kiwanis and other community groups. He enjoyed playing cribbage, bridge, and billiards. He also enjoyed hunting, trapping, and fishing. One of his passions was planting flower gardens. Following retirement he started to buy and sell in the flea market world until his later years. Rusty lived life as he pleased, good, bad, or indifferent. He was still loved. Surviving Rusty Kaufman are three daughters, Deborah (Richard) Sankey, Bode, IA; Daphne Genrich, Pickerel, WI; Jeanna (Ralph) Cummings, Alberton, MT. 3 stepchildren, Becky (Louis) Rutherford, Edmond, OK; Brian (Victoria) Booth, Tomahawk; and Brad Booth, Merrill. He is further survived by 19 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. The life of Rusty Kaufman will be celebrated privately by his family. He will be buried in Greenwood Cemetery next to his wife, Nela. Krueger Family Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
