Doris Marie Ellison

<p>Doris Marie Ellison, 87, passed away Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Harrison Crossing in Terre Haute. She was born on November 16, 1933 in Gary, Indiana to the late Stanley and Mary (Solis) Pankaski. Doris married Wayne Ellison on November 25, 1961, and earned her Master&rsquo;s in Education from Indiana State University. She taught school in Casey, Illinois, Brownsburg, Indiana as well as Van Buren and Turkey Run Schools. In her free time she loved to knit, giving many of her blankets and other items away as gifts. She also enjoyed reading, and attended church at Annunciation Catholic Church. Doris was preceded in death by her husband.</p> <p>Survivors include her brother-in-law, Jim Siegelin; Sister-in-law, Wilma Ellison; Nephews, Michael (Madonna) Siegelin, Alan Fitch, Darrin Fitch and Kevin (Sissy) Fitch; and niece, Carol Ann (Tom) Vanatti.</p> <p>Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday at Moore Funeral Home in Brazil with burial to follow at Diamond Cemetery. The family will accept friends for visitation on Thursday from 12:00 Noon until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Clay County Humane Society, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.</p>
