<p>Harvey Ben Pope was born on October 8th, 1939 in Weiser Idaho.&nbsp; Everyone knew him as &ldquo;Ben&rdquo; or &ldquo;Bennie&rdquo;.&nbsp; He was the 3rd of 4 children to Roy Lee Pope and Marguerite Eva Pope.&nbsp; It was on his birthday this year, October 8th, 2021, that he succumbed to respiratory failure due to Covid pneumonia and went to be with our Lord.&nbsp; Ben was raised in a family that worked hard together, played hard together and loved one another.&nbsp; He took these values with him through his life.&nbsp; He enjoyed basketball and football during his school years and was a very competitive individual.&nbsp; He graduated from New Plymouth High School in Payette Idaho in 1958.&nbsp; Ben&rsquo;s father taught Ben and his brothers Floyd and Del how to hunt and fish.&nbsp; His mother was a dedicated gardener which encouraged Ben to hit the garden with a salt shaker so he could snack on tomatoes and cucumbers.&nbsp; He loved to tell that story.&nbsp; After graduating Ben enjoyed many different things; he worked in the grocery industry he was a store owner then finally settled down to becoming a pet groomer.&nbsp; His shop, Classic Clips, was located on 4th and Thor in Spokane.&nbsp; He enjoyed helping pet owners keep their pets healthy and clean.&nbsp; He was a natural. &nbsp;</p> <p>Ben and Kathi met in the 1980&rsquo;s and married on July 4th, 1986.&nbsp; &nbsp;When Ben retired, he enjoyed being the one that was available to family and friends to help out where he could.&nbsp; He also continued with his love of fishing and cooking.&nbsp; After many back surgeries, he had to start learning how to slow down.&nbsp;</p> <p>Ben was preceded in death by his parents, his oldest brother Floyd and his sister Jean.&nbsp; He is survived by his wife Kathi, daughters Brandi and Mindy (Jason) and his younger brother Del Pope (Martha).&nbsp; Ben has 8 grandchildren locally that have come to love and adore him; Trent Hawkins, Cameron Andrews, Bryan Andrews, Paige Hawkins, Marissa Andrews, Tristan Hawkins, Chance Krauss and Tea Krauss.&nbsp; He enjoyed hanging out with them just to share stories and be a part of their lives.&nbsp; Ben also enjoyed watching his many nieces and nephews grow up and start their own families; always looking forward to holidays or birthday parties or family reunions.&nbsp; Ben had a smile that could put anyone at ease.&nbsp; He will be missed dearly!</p> <p>A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, November 6th at 1:00 pm.&nbsp; The service will be held at Valley Fourth Church, 2303 S. Bowdish Rd., Spokane Valley, WA 99206</p>

Kathi and girls- I’m so sorry for your loss. Ben was such a nice & sweet man. Loved to talk to him when he would groom my kitty and every once in awhile call Kathi at work. Thoughts and prayers to you and your family. 💕. Natalie Nypen Pardue
