Joann B. Gines

JoAnn Bareis Gines, age 87, passed away peacefully at home on September 26th, 2021, surrounded by family. JoAnn was born February 7th, 1934, in Louisville, KY to Edwin and Margaret Bareis. After spending her youthful years in Louisville, she traveled a bit before setting in the Los Angeles area where she met and married her husband, Bert Gines. She had many career opportunities throughout her life including working for Mattel where she would bring home prototype toys for her children to test. She dedicated a large portion of her working life to serving the public from nursing assistant to working in the food industry with her last position being part of the Chick-fil-A catering team. JoAnn is proceeded in death by her husband, Bert Daniel Gines; son, Robert Allen Gines; and daughter, Priscilla Ann Gines. She is survived by her son, Daniel Joseph Gines; daughters, Mary Ellen Smith and Margert Ruth Nalbone; son, Thomas Edward Gines; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her sister, Katherine Carder; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides spending time with her family, JoAnn enjoyed many interests and activities during her lifetime. She loved the outdoors and while her husband was still alive, they made many camping trips throughout the US and Canada with their children and family. She had a passion for painting porcelain dolls until her hands would no longer let her. She enjoyed reading, jigsaw puzzles, cooking and baking and had started an annual holiday “Goody Day’ with her daughters that now includes extended family and friends. Everyone is invited to attend A Celebration of Life for JoAnn on October 16th, 2021, from 1-3 p.m. at Trahan Family Funeral Home, 60 Industrial Blvd., Pensacola, FL.
