Marion Thelma Bennett Obituary

Bennett, Marion, Thelma It is with great sadness that we share the news that Marion Bennett (Hope) left us on Friday, October 8th, 2021 to join her husband, Lyle in Heaven, to play their music for friends that have gone before. She went peacefully and painlessly in her sleep at the age of 91, after briefly battling a recurrence of cancer. Marion was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Jenn (Halladay), and sisters Della, Olive, Marg and Barb. She is survived by her children Terri (Dave), Doug (Sharon), and Rick, as well as her grandchildren, Jason, (Lori) and Kim - and great grandchildren, Liam and Landon; and survived by her loving sister Liz (Gyula) Pasztor, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Marion was actively involved with St. John's Church, serving with the Women's Auxiliary for many years. She was famous for her strong and wonderful hugs and will be remembered always for providing delicious home-made buns to Bazaars and to her many friends in Smiths Falls, where she spent most of her life. Special thanks to Reverend Catherine of St. John's Church, to Doctor Sobala, and to the staff of the Smiths Falls Hospital and it's Palliative Care Unit. Friends are invited to pay their respects at the Lannin Funeral Home on Thursday, October 14, 2021 from 2:00pm - 4:00pm and 6:00pm - 8:00pm. A funeral service will take place at 11:00am on Friday, October 15, 2021 at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, Smiths Falls. Interment to follow at Maple Vale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Operation Smile Canada would be greatly appreciated. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Lannin Funeral Home. Online condolences available at www.lannin.ca Please note that the Church will be following Diocesan protocols for funerals. Accordingly, this will limit the overall number of attendees to seventy (70) people. In addition, masks must be worn at all times and attendees will be asked to practice social distancing. Contact information, from each attendee, will be collected upon arrival at the Church.
