Julia Etta (Thompson) Kennell Obituary

Mount Savage, MD – Julia Etta (Thompson) Kennell, 83, of Mount Savage, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother went home to be with her Lord, Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at UPMC Western Maryland.    Julia was born, the fifth daughter of Robert Earle Thompson and Reta Opal (Harris) Thompson on September 9, 1938, in Belington, WV.  She is preceded in death by her sisters: Jennie Lee, Betty Jo, Lila Lu, Bonnie Belle, and Sandra Sue.  Julia is survived by her husband of 63 years: Earl James Kennell; two daughters: Sheri Aspito and husband, Bryan, Mount Savage, and Heidi Quinn and husband John, Cresaptown.  She was the cherished grandmother to two grandsons: James Aspito and wife, Taylor, Cumberland; and Jonathan Aspito, Mount Savage; and two granddaughters: Erica Woolard and husband, Daniel, Cumberland; and Erin Kiddy and husband, Ross, Havre de Grace; three great granddaughters: Addison Quinn Woolard, Luna Faye Kiddy, and Julietta Lorayne Aspito; and one great grandson: Denver Ryan Woolard.   Julia is survived by her sister: Ella Mae Iman, Oregon, OH; and her brother: Walden “Scott” Sturms, Baltimore; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Julia has been a member of Central Assembly of God church, 2020 Bedford Street, Cumberland, for more than six decades where she taught Sunday School for many years.  But more importantly she loved the Lord with all her heart, and she leaves a legacy of faith for her family.  “Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:  Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.”  She is the embodiment of the Proverbs 31 woman.    Julia was a busy wife, mother and grandmother and an expert homemaker.  Along with her husband, she operated Kennell Bus Services.    Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, on Monday, October 11, 2021, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.  A funeral service will be conducted at Central Assembly of God Church on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor James Aspito officiating.  The family will also receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be in White Oaks Cemetery.
