William “Willie” Mace, age 66, of Marion, NC passed away unexpectedly Thursday, October 7, 2021, due to complications of COVID-19.

Willie was born March 23, 1955 in Mitchell County, NC to the late William Davie Mace and Frances Geneva Biddix Mace. He graduated from Marion High School class of 1973 and was proud to be a Marion Ripper alumni. He was also an avid Carolina Tar Heels fan. Willie loved the Lord and often testified, “God is my rock.” Having never met a stranger, he was a friend to all and will be missed by many.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Mace and his first cousin who he thought of like a sister, Carolyn Mace Dellinger.

Those left behind to cherish Willie’s memory are three beloved daughters, Natalie Mace Pittman (Justin) of Marion, Sarah Mace McIntyre of Louisville, TN and Emily Mace Robinson (Caleb) of Marion, NC, and one precious granddaughter, Haley Lowery.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 in the chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home in Marion, NC. A funeral service to celebrate Willie’s life will follow at 3:00 pm at the funeral home with Rev. Ralph Reep officiating. Interment will follow the service at McKinney Gap Cemetery in Spruce Pine, NC.
