Nola Sue Richards Obituary

Nola Sue Richards, age 81 of St. Germain, WI; God Our Savior has called Nola age 81 home to be with him and her beloved husband Don who preceded her to heaven on February 3, 2021. Nola was born in Plymouth, WI January 25, 1940 to Roy and Gela Wapp Harnack. She was raised in Kiel with her sister EmmyLou and later first cousins Barbie and Bernie Wapp who came to live with them after losing their parents and were raised as siblings. After graduating from Kiel High School in 1958, Nola attended Business College in Milwaukee. She spent most of her working life as a Medical Assistant and Medical Secretary with the longest tenures being at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan and Achilles Foot and Ankle with Dr. Mindy Wolf in Woodruff. She treasured the many life-long friends made with co-workers from these places. While working for Dr. Sara Bernhardt in Milwaukee she met the love of her life Donald Richards. They were married on September 22, 1962. They lived in Milwaukee and on Pewaukee Lake before moving to a hobby farm in Waldo, WI with their two daughters in 1971. After traveling to Vilas County for camping, hunting, fishing and snowmobiling for 30 years Nola and Don moved to St. Germain in 1993 joining her daughter Dawn and her family who moved there in 1992. Whether you knew her as Mom, Nola, Grandma Looney, Mola or Granola she will be greatly missed by all. She was always the hit of the party and loved making you laugh with her or about her. Nola enjoyed getting together with family and friends, watching the Packers or the Brewers games and going on long car rides with Don to enjoy the scenery. Her and Don were longtime members of the BoBoen Snowmobile club and she was proud to be a part the BoBoen Boobies women’s snowmobile group (she snowmobiled well into her seventies) and a proud long-time member of Women on Snow. Nola was formally an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Waldo and Community United Church of Christ in St. Germain since moving there. Nola is survived by her 2 daughters: Dawn (Joe) Schneider of St. Germain, Kasey (Troy) Klein of Waldo and stepson Jeff (Sharleen) Richards of Lancaster, CA. Grandchildren (who were the light of her life): Heather (Nathan) Zabel of Conover, Tanner (Noel) Klein of Sheboygan and Taylor (Evan) Schrauth of Fond du Lac. Great-granddaughter Briella Schrauth of Fond du Lac and great-grandson Connor Zabel of Conover. Nola’s biggest disappointment is that she would not be here to meet her 2 great-granddaughters, who are expected this winter. She is further survived by her sister Barbara (Chet) Socia of Kalamazoo, MI, Sister-in Law: Karen (Gary) Tennyson of Pewaukee, Brother-in law: Bill (Joyce) Richards of Milwaukee. Many beloved nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews and Special family friends Randy, Gina and Miranda Walter of Cascade. She will also be greatly missed by the whole Fisher clan, originally of Waldo, who have been like a second family to us. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Don, her parents, father and mother in- laws, Bill and Loretta Richards, sister EmmyLou and brother in-law Andy of Adell and brother Bernie Wapp of Neenah. An Up North memorial service will be held for both Nola and Don on Friday, Oct. 15th, 4:00-6:00 pm at Community United Church of Christ, Hwy 155, St. Germain. A funeral for Nola will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church in Waldo on Sunday, Oct. 17th. Visitation from noon-1:00 followed by a short service. Burial will take place at 3:15 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Plymouth following a luncheon at the church.
