Edna Guin Warren Newton, North Carolina Obituary

Edna Guin Warren

On Thursday, October 7th, Edna Guin Warren received her angel wings and flew into the arms of Jesus. She was born May 17, 1936 in Cleveland County to William Henry Guin and Annie Dagenhart Guin. She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as the love of her life for 50 years, Kenneth O. Warren; and her brother, Harry Guin, Sr. She is survived by her daughters, Dianne Keller and husband, Gary and Sherrie Lee and husband, Max. Further survived by her “one and only” sister, Joyce Sigmon and husband, Kenneth. She has four grandchildren, Scott Lee and wife Julie, Thomas Lee and wife Kristy, Lucas Keller and wife Kelly, and Whitney K. Bumgarner and husband Tyler. There are seven great grandchildren, Caleb Lee, Cassy Lee, Cadence Lee, Audrey Lee, Camdyn Lee, Haley Bentley and Graylon Keller. She is further survived by her special nephew, Jeffrey Guin and wife, Belinda who helped provide care for her in her final years. Next to her love for her family, she was probably Elvis’s number one fan. Music was important to her when she became homebound and enjoyed old time gospel as well as country music. She loved sharing her picture albums of her trips with Dianne and friends to FanFare each year. She loved baking and continued to do so after she was wheelchair bound which resulted in a kitchen full of flour everywhere but awesome pound cakes which made the mess all worthwhile. She loved continuing to go to her Balls Creek High School Class of 1954 Reunion each year and see her classmates, a lot of whom she kept in touch with by phone. Momma loved having her hair done and created a loving bond with Diane Poovey, who became a sister to her. Escapades to the beauty shop included a ride in Thomas’ jacked up truck through ice and snow as well as a ride with Julie through the hurricane which resulted in Julie’s hurricane hair all while keeping Mom’s hairdo dry. A special thank you to Carolina Caring for both her in-home care as well as her care at Robinson Road Hospice House. She adored Ashley, her bath nurse. Hospice nurses truly are angels. Graveside services will be held 4:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery, Sherrills Ford, N.C. with Representative Mitchell Setzer officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 to 3:45 P.M. in the Family Life Center. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carolina Caring, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, N.C. 28658. Burke Mortuary & Crematory-Newton is serving the Warren Family.
