Raymond Floyd Spinks Jr. Obituary

Raymond Floyd Spinks, Jr., of Conroe, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 in The Woodlands, TX, at the age of 71. He was born on June 18, 1950 to parents, Raymond Floyd Spinks, Sr. and Laura Belle Ernst Spinks. He is preceded in death by his mother, Laura Belle Ernst Spinks Orsak, father, Raymond Floyd Spinks, Sr., brother, William Wayne (Bill) Spinks, sister, Mary Louise Spinks Brown Ammons, and numerous other beloved family members. He leaves behind a wife of 52 years, Wanda Lynn Curry Spinks; daughters, Rebecca Lynn Spinks Conway and her husband Mark, and Jennifer Rae Spinks and her partner Jared; 4 grandchildren, Kaitlyn Rae and her partner Ashley, Kamye Victoria, Jason Tayler, and Parker Reese and his wife Victoria; sister, Francis Ann Spinks Palmer and her husband James; brother, Prentice Lee Spinks; brother-in-law, Douglas Leon Curry and his wife Shirley; sister-in-law, Ruth Curry Belton; sister-in-law, Kay Curry Fontenot and husband Michael; as well as numerous beloved nieces, nephews, other family members and treasured friends. Ray was born and raised along the Texas coast, until he moved to the Conroe area and met the love of his life, Wanda, when she was just 15 and he was 17 years old. They married on February 7, 1969. He worked in construction, tractor mechanics, contracting management, and truck driving. One of his greatest accomplishments was building the home of his dreams with his own hands. Throughout his lifetime, he made many great and lifelong friends that were soon considered his family. He never lost his love for the ocean, the outdoors, tinkering with mechanics and wood working, or discussing his faith or politics. He never missed letting you know where he stood on either topic. He loved his people with a fierce passion that will be greatly missed by all who knew him. There will be a service to celebrate his life on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at 2:00 pm (Visitation begins at 12:30pm) McNutt Funeral Home located at 1703 Porter Rd, Conroe, TX 77301. In typical Ray fashion and sense of humor, he had made the decision to have his remains cremated with a strict order to his children and grandchildren that any memorial items made, not be made into anything that may end up in a garage sale.
