NATALIE REITZEL McMAHON Obituary

Natalie “Lee, Nat, Mom, or Nonnies” Reitzel McMahon, age 93, passed away on September 24, 2021, at St. John’s Hospital West Shore, Westlake, Ohio. Natalie was born in Harvey, Illinois on January 21, 1928 to Gertrude and Emery Reitzel. She was raised in Plymouth, MI and attended Michigan State University. She worked for The Michigan Department of Aeronautics, MI, and for The Daisy Manufacturing Company as a bookkeeper and office manager in Michigan and New York City. Natalie married Robert “Bob” V. McMahon, MD (deceased, 1993) on April 28th, 1953 in Plymouth, Michigan, at Our Lady of Good Council Catholic Church. Lee and Bob had lived in Ann Arbor, MI, then settled in Lakewood, OH where they raised their family. With their family grown, they moved to Westlake, OH in 1990. Natalie and Robert were married for forty years. Natalie volunteered at St. John’s and Fairview Hospitals while raising her family. Later she volunteered for Meals-on-Wheels and Wigs for Kids in Rocky River, OH. Natalie is survived by her five children: Kathleen McMahon (Mark) Blanchard, of Columbus, OH, Jan (Bob Rabatsky) McMahon of Lewes, DE, Christopher “Kip” (Judy ) McMahon, of Westlake, OH, Megan McMahon, of Laingsburg, MI and Cynthia McMahon (Mark) Pinchoff of Farmington Hills, MI; nine grandchildren: Ian (Emily) Blanchard, Kyle (Karina) McMahon, Patrick (Ariana Chiapella) Blanchard, Staci Rabatsky, Kaleigh (Tom) Gittinger, Kate Rabatsky, Dana Pinchoff, Corey Pinchoff and Annie Pinchoff; five great grandchildren: Kylah Blanchard, Madelina McMahon, Maelin Chiapella, Emma Gittinger and Micaela McMahon. Natalie leaves her brother E. David (Sue) Reitzel of Westland, MI, nephew: Dave (Cindy Randolph) Reitzel and nieces: Paula Scarlett, Gail Reitzel-Estes and Beth Reitzel (Paul) Gordon. Natalie was full of energy and added such fun wherever she went. She was known for her witty sense of humor, her sayings, her stories, her gift o’ gab. She loved chatting with neighbors and friends. She was determined, generous and kind, a role model to her loved ones. Lee enjoyed dancing (mainly the Charleston), reading, singing, creating beautiful flower arrangements and playing tennis and golf. She traveled to many places including Greece, Australia, Monserrat, Russia, Poland, Egypt, the Canadian Rockies and New Zealand. She visited her high school friends every year at Pokagon Park, IN. A favorite, yearly vacation for Lee was spending time with her family at Oglebay Park, WVA, a tradition that continued for over 50 years. Natalie was “loved to pieces” by her family. Her family “blesses her little pointed head,” wishes her nightly bologna/mayo “samiches”, pets to whisper to and dear friends and family to talk with. She is missed. She is loved. Peace. Natalie requested a private service to be held for her immediate family only. If anyone wishes, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (jdrf.org) or a charity of their choice.
