Evelyn Elaine Gess, 86, of Henderson, died Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at 11:20 p.m. in the Emergency Room at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg. Evelyn was born November 16, 1934 in Benson, IL, the daughter of Bernard and Clara (Schroeder) Redenius.  She married Robert Lee Gess on October 30, 1954 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Peoria, IL.  Evelyn is survived by her husband of almost 67 years, Robert of Henderson; one daughter, Evlayne Ramirez of Tacoma, WA; and her two beloved grandchildren, Armando (Michelle) Ramirez and Isabella Ramirez.  Along with her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by one brother, Leland Redenius; and one sister, Marjorie Howell. Evelyn worked as a telephone operator for Illinois Bell for a few years, but after her marriage Evelyn enjoyed being a homemaker and took great pride in maintaining her home and being a wife and mother.  One of her greatest joys was to be with her two grandchildren and caring for her family and friends.  Evelyn was a prolific collector of dolls. Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Clayton Twp. Cemetery, Benson, IL.  Pastor Joy Miller will officiate.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.
