James E. "Pop" Holmes

James Earl “Pop” Holmes was born July 1, 1950, to James C. Holmes and Eunice A. Holmes in Greene County, North Carolina. James attended Greene County Public Schools and after school he moved to High Point, North Carolina. Later James embarked on a new Journey by moving to Newark, New Jersey where he worked for Kentile Flooring Inc., for many years. James had a love for music, cooking, coloring, watching wrestling and playing cards. He also loved singing, especially in the church choir. He is preceded in death by his father James C. Holmes, two sisters: Judy H. Reid, and Brenda H. Edwards and one grandson, Joseth A. Baines Jr. He leaves to cherish his memories his loving mother Eunice Holmes of Stantonsburg NC, 5 loving children: James E. Holmes Jr. of Newark, NJ, Shonda Simpson (Andrew) of Newark NJ, Charlette Green of Newark, NJ, Shakeisha Green of Plainfield, NJ and Tamika Green of Plainfield, NJ, three brothers Lester Holmes (Diane) of Stantonsburg, NC, Johnnie Holmes (Joyce) of Stantonsburg, NC, Ernest Holmes of Wilson, NC, four sisters: Velma Bullock (Carl) of Stantonsburg, NC, Joyce Davis (Todd) of Stantonsburg, NC, Thelma Daniels of Stantonsburg, NC and Jacquelyn Holmes (James) of Wilson, NC, seven grandchildren: Tysiahnae Daughtry, Keiceisha Holliday, Kaced Holliday, Keiasia Holliday, Kaden Holliday, Zynasijah Simpson and Malakai Green, two great grandchildren, Amirah Roach and Arianna Roach, three aunts Barbara Canty (Tom) of Goldsboro, NC, Margorie Taylor of Snowhill, NC and Mattie King of Canton, California and a host of nieces, nephews and friends including special friends Albert Thompson of Greenville, NC and Annette Craddock of Plainfield, NJ.
