Edward Joseph Wojcicki, Jr. Alpena, Michigan Obituary

Edward Joseph Wojcicki, Jr.

Edward Joseph Wojcicki Jr passed away on October 6, 2021, after a long battle with throat and lung cancer. He was born and raised in the Detroit, Michigan area as the oldest and only male with 5 younger sisters. He felt from a young age, the need to be protective and in control, almost to a fault. Immediately at adulthood, he joined the Airforce, serving 5 ½ years home and abroad with his eldest being born in England. Trying his best to provide for his family, he held various jobs until finding his career as an Automotive Mechanic at the main Chrysler Transportation for 33 years. He had a busy mind, enjoyed watching educational shows and Jeopardy, and often tried to solve various problems. He was a Master Welder and able to design and create metal lawn ornaments and wooden signs. In the midst of his career, he moved his family to Alpena from the Detroit area with hopes of a more down to earth, family friendly environment for his children. During this time, he was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, started a Squire Circle in Alpena and another in the Detroit area. He was an active member of the International Order of Alhambra, the Lions Club, Guys R Us (cancer support group) and Friends Together. He enjoyed hanging out with the guys and meeting up with his buddies for coffee. He was always grateful for the care and financial support that the Friends Together group provided during his cancer treatments. Upon his retirement, he became more active in the community by participating in the SightFirst program for kids and sponsored children from Latin America with the Unbound child program. Edward is survived by his wife of 58 years, Delores Wojcicki, Jeanette (Chad) Stoinski, Edward (Wendy) Wojcicki, Deanna (Gary) Cowden, and Theresa Peter. He is also survived by three of his siblings. Ed had 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was very proud of all his children and their accomplishments in which he would sometimes embellish to his friends. He was a very active person in his younger years and throughout retirement with a knack for gambling, going to Casinos, and golfing with the Dingaling’s on Tuesdays. He often had his heart in the right place but his words somewhere else. He will be remembered as a man who tried his best with the life he was given. May his soul rest in peace and God grant him grace. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, 10/10/21 at McWilliams Funeral Home at 504 W. Washington Ave Alpena, MI from 2:00pm-8:00pm with a vigil at 7:00pm. Church services will be Monday, 10/11/21 at All Saints Catholic Parish at 817 Sable St. Alpena, MI with viewing from 3:00pm-4:00pm and Funeral Mass at 4:00pm. Immediately following Mass immediate family and those who would like to attend will proceed to Holy Cross cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the VFW Post #2496 and the US Air Force.
