Omalee Winford Obituary

Omalee Winford was born in Berkeley, California on November 6, 1944 to the proud parents of Henry McCowan and Bernice Shoate. She confessed Christ at an early age uniting with Good Shepherd Church of God In Christ, where she was baptized by Acts Full Gospel Church under the leadership of Bishop Bob Jackson. Omalee furthered her education at Pleasant Valley Adult School and received a certificate of completion as a Nurse Assistant. Omalee met and later married John Winford on May 22, 1971. They were married for 13 years. From this union was born one son John Winford, Jr. and two daughters, Tausha Winford and Tracey Winford. Omalee worked as a Nurse Assistant at Home For Jewish Parents for 15 years until she retired in 1990. She enjoyed fishing and taking care of her grandchildren. Omalee is preceded in death by her mother Bernice Shoate, father Henry McCowan; brothers Frank, Charles, Henry Jr., and Melvin McCowan and grandchildren Malik Winford. Omalee is survived by her (3) children Tausha Winford Camel, Tracey Winford and John Winford, Jr., (5) grand-children, Erick Bell, Joseph Johnson, Kalilah Winford, Jamir Turner and Jordan Lewis, (1) sister Ella Mae Vaught, (1) brother Emmanuel McCowan, (8) nieces, (5) nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
