May 31, 1948 – October 6, 2021

 

Robert Darrel Blevins, age 73 of Carleton, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on October 6, 2021.

 

Bob was born on May 31, 1948, in Oneida, Kentucky. He was the son of Willis and Jacklin (Bowdler) Blevins. Bob then moved to and grew up in Monroe. He graduated from Ecorse High School and then attended classes at Henry Ford College. Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a part of the 1st Cavalry Division in the Vietnam War. Upon returning home from the army, Bob worked as a welder for Great Lakes Steel.

 

He would eventually marry the love of his life, Wanda Texter, on January 30, 1971 at Glenwood United Methodist Church in Wyandotte. They raised a family of five children and spent over 50 wonderful years together.

 

Bob was a member of the South Rockwood United Methodist Church. In his free time, Bob enjoyed completing small engine repairs. He loved fishing and his dogs. Most importantly, Bob loved being with his family.

 

To cherish his memory, Bob leaves his loving wife, Wanda; children: Heather, Holly, and Hope; and grandchildren: Jonathon, Dedra, Kaylyn, Jade, Jasmine, Melanie, and one baby on the way.

 

Along with his parents, Bob is also preceded in death by his son, Bob II, daughter, Heide, and nephew, Willis.

 

In accordance with Bob’s wishes, cremation has taken place with no services at this time. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Rupp Funeral Home.
