Obituary

Jack Dallas “J.D.” Hildenbrand, 51, of Fredericksburg, Marion, and Roan Mountain, went to be with Jesus on October 4th, 2021. His transition was peaceful with his loving family by his side.

J.D. was born on June 18th, 1970 to Ruth Ann Dear and Jack Wayne Hildenbrand in Crawford County, Ohio. After graduating from Jackson High School in 1989, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. In the Navy, he served as an electronics engineer on a submarine, which got him interested in his lifelong career as a computer network engineer.

After the Navy, he attended Ohio University, then went on to finish his education online, where he received multiple degrees and certificates in computer network engineering. He was senior engineer at his job, and took pride in all he did and accomplished in his career. He loved all of his work colleagues, and thought of them as family.

He and his wife, Sandy, got married in 1994 and moved to North Carolina where they started their family together. They had Zaynah in North Carolina, then moved to Virginia, where ten years later they were blessed with Dallison. They enjoyed traveling and visiting family, which they did often.

Above all, J.D. loved Jesus, and we fully believe Jesus welcomed him to heaven with a coke and a golden dog (twinkie). Next to Jesus, his family was his priority and he worked very hard his whole career to make sure they were well taken care of. J.D. was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything on Earth, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of Zayn, Dallison, and Sandy and always did his best to support them.

J.D. was also a passionate private pilot and could often be found at the airport with Zayn when he wasn’t at home. He also enjoyed going boating on the lake with Dallison and her friends and spending time with Sandy in Tennessee at their camper. He had recently revived his love of motorcycles and fully enjoyed biking in the mountains with his nephews, Trey and Austin. He loved his big, redneck diesel truck and could often be found singing in it at the top of his lungs on the way to the lake.

In his final days, he expressed his excitement to share fresh bread and fruit in the Kingdom of God with Jesus.

Anyone who knew J.D. knew that he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for. We look forward to seeing him again one sweet day.

J.D. was predeceased by his grandparents, Donald and Bernice Hildenbrand, Omer and Daffo Hawkins, his father, Jack Wayne Hildenbrand, and his unborn child whom he looked forward to meeting in Heaven. He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Sandy Hildenbrand, and their two children Zaynah and Dallison Hildenbrand, his mother, Ruth Ann Dear, siblings, Lisa Yates and spouse Mark, Karla Moran and spouse Bobby, Adrian Lawhead and spouse Elizabeth.

A private service to Honor J.D.'s life will be held in the Chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home.
