Andrew W. Pasquina Obituary

Andrew W. Pasquina, Esq. Andrew Waldron Pasquina, 69, beloved husband of Julia Egan Pasquina of Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Somerville, MA on June 13, 1947, son of the late Edward F. Pasquina Sr. and Josephine M. (Burns) Pasquina. Andy attended West Parish School, Central Grammar and was a graduate of Gloucester High School, class of 1965. After graduating, he attended Salem State University, receiving his Bachelor of Science in Arts and Education in 1969. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy from 1969-1971 and was an Electronics Material Officer aboard the USS Warrington, DD843. Upon an honorable discharge, he enrolled at Suffolk Law School in Boston, and graduated in 1978. He has run his own law practice in the Boston area ever since, representing clients in all ten courts. In the latter part of his career, Andy became a champion for those in the recovery community and brought grace, commitment, warmth and generosity of spirit. He was a long-tenured and devoted board member of Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers (LCL), and in that role Andy helped, and indeed saved, countless attorneys struggling with the hardest challenges. Andy was also a longstanding and beloved member of the board of Freedom from Chemical Dependency (FCD) and in that role worked diligently to help prevent alcohol and drug dependency with students and families throughout the United States and abroad. His board colleagues cherished their time with him and he leaves a hole in their hearts, that is only assuaged by the legacy and hope and love that Andy left to so many, especially in the recovery community. Andy was a tri-athlete and loved cycling. He was a member of Team Gloucester, the Cascade Bicycle Club, U.S. Cycling, Boston Athletic Association and USAT. His own personal team was the Green Dragons. His first triathlon was at age 50 in Italy with his best friend Gary. He would sing as he rode his Pinarello bicycle through many countries. Andy loved his family deeply and spent countless hours going out on the boat with his children, exploring the waters of Cape Ann. Everyone who knew Andy understands that the best day of the year has always been the annual trip to the Topsfield Fair, followed closely by running the Cape Race on Labor Day. Affectionately known as 'Mr. P', Andy was a friend and coach to his children's little league and youth soccer teams when they were young and the nickname carried on throughout Andy's continued involvement in the community and in the lives of his family, friends. Andy's love and positive influence has always been effortlessly far-reaching. He is survived by his wife, Julia Egan Pasquina; his son, Lincoln Wayne Pasquina and his wife Megan Francesca Pasquina; his daughter, Katherine Jane (Pasquina) Fromhagen and her husband Marvin Fromhagen; and his 3, as he affectionately called them, "bonus children", Taylor Egan Williams and her husband Neil Williams, Megan Frantz Bishop and Jack Bishop and his girlfriend, Tasla Feuerbach; grandchildren, Marie Leonie Fromhagen and William Lincoln Fromhagen; and sister, Joan White and his mother and father-in-law, Janet and John Egan. His Memorial Service will be held in the Annisquam Village Church, 820 Washington Street, Gloucester on Saturday, January 28, at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There will be no visiting hours and the burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to the Ella Jade O'Donnell Memorial Playground. Donations payable to the City of Peabody, reference 'Playground Fund'. Mail to: South Memorial Elementary School, Attention: Dr. Monique Nappi, 16 Maple Street Extension, Peabody, MA 01960.
